Lyon Mountain is a former state minimum-security correctional facility located in the Northern Adirondack Park. The property consists of 27.3 acres of land on both sides of Route 374 (11.47 acres on the north and 15.9 acres on the south) and each with road access. Lyon Mountain features several acres of undeveloped land in addition to 23 buildings totaling 90,676 square feet. Of the 23 buildings, there are five buildings that are considered to be significant (81,847 square feet) plus three garage/storage buildings (5,259 square feet); these eight buildings total 87,106 square feet, or 96% of the property’s total square footage. The Hamlet of Lyon Mountain is an historic former mining community situated at a crossroads between Chazy and Upper Chateaugay Lakes, each offering numerous year-round outdoor recreational activities. Nearby larger towns within commuting distance include Plattsburg (30 miles) and Lake Placid (46 miles).
